HoW We gOt EnGageD!

Andrew and I had talked about marriage a little bit and decided to go ring hunting. We went to the mall and walked into a jewelry store and I found the ring I wanted right off the bat. Andrew wanted to make sure I looked around and insisted on making sure I got what I wanted. After that we decided to take things a little bit slower-kinda freaked him out! I knew he was planning it, I just wasn't expecting it the day it happened. We had been up to my Mom and Dad's house and church with them.
It was November 30th, 1997. We went to temple square to go see the lights. Andrew took a blanket and we were walking around. He was very quiet, and I knew something wasn't right! We walked to the wishing well and I asked him if he had any money with him, but neither one of us did. We looked down and saw a penny... a little girl was walking towards it and Andrew snatched it right up and said to me, "Make a Wish." I threw the penny in and we walked over to a bench and sat down on the blanket and snuggled up to stay warm. We were making small talk and my hair got caught on a tree branch and then I started to giggle.

Andrew asked me what I wished for and I told him I couldn't tell because it wouldn't come true. He said, "Come on just tell me." And I said, "I just wish you would ask me quick!" And he shoved the ring on my finger and said, "Well okay, how's this!" I was so stunned he had the ring I wanted and it was heavy and beautiful and he was amazing. I jumped up and down saying, "Yes, I will marry you, yea we are getting married!" Then we stared to laugh and cry and laugh and cry! We had a couple take our picture, and then I had to rush to the car and call my family. It wasn't until the next day I said to him, "Ya know, you never really asked me to marry You!" and that's when the work began....

Our Month's of Dating

Andrew and I dated everyday. Sometimes dates were simple like playing basketball at the elementary school or fun nights to Off Broadway Theater (One of our favorite places to go!).
We went to a lot of movies such as Flubber, Anastasia and Mulan. At Halloween we had a contest carving out pumpkins and gave out Halloween candy to the kids on the block.

Andrew would come and pick me up at Jim and Richelle's when I lived with them and take me to work. Then we would spend our evenings together. He would bring me peanut butter crackers or something yummy every morning for breakfast, and we would fix dinner together. One of Andrew's favorite things to make was Shepard's pie and Nestle Toll house cookies!

One time at work, I thought I would see how much water I could drink in one day. Little did I know how much I would pay for it later! I think I drank 4 hospital mugs full and I woke up throwing up. I was so sick. I called Andrew very late at night and he rushed right over to take care of me...it was so sweet. He made sure I had Tylenol and was comfortable before he had to go to work bright and early the next morning...Needless to say I never did that again!

It all started in 1997

Andrew and I met at work at the Les Olson Company .
He had to tell me this later because I was clueless, but the first time we met, he saw me and

went home to change into a fresh ironed shirt. He claims the other one was wrinkled to much!

Anyways, I didn't even remember meeting him because I met so many people that day. A couple

weeks later,he asked me if I wanted to go to his "party," (which of course I did) and it was a total

of Andrew, Andrew's friend, Roy, My sister, Malinda, Jennie Whittaker and Me...some party! We

ended talking until late in the night while everyone else was sacked out on the couch. He followed

us to my apartment to make sure we got back okay, and we haven't really spent a day apart

since.

My Great Idea

I had this brilliant idea that I would start my blog when Andrew and I first met, how we got

engaged, our five children and how our life has been the past 11 1/2 years. I am terrible at writing

in my journal (kindof) and thought this would be something I could print and give to my family

when they are older, because I hate to scrapbook! Andrew is going to have to be a big part of this,

he is the one who has to scan old pictures for me. I am so excied to do this.

Saturday, Aug. 8th was my Provo River Half Marathon.
I was able to make it in under 2 1/2 hrs. which was my goal. I ended up crossing the wonderful finish line
at 2:20.
Today is Monday, August 10th and I still can't walk. My knee is killing me and my calves fill like someone slices me with a knife every time I move.
My family keeps asking me, "why do you do this, is it worth it?" and this is always going to be my answer, I love to do things that challenge me, it is fun and i will do it again!!
